Geographic Location of Tribes of Israel -- Eze. 48
Hello all. It’s been a great week of reading Ezekiel. With the explanation of Yorww, it all seems so logical and makes perfect sense as one does research. A couple of things that I have questions on is regarding the specificity of everything. Things are so accurate. It describes the building structures, Chieftain, his relationship to servants and sons, the sacrificing to Jehovah, etc. It’s all so specific. And there doesn’t seem to be much symbolism. But when it gets to chapter 48, it talks about the tribes of Israel and the specificity of the locations within the land of Israel geographically. How do we reconcile the tribes of Israel spoken of and the geographic locations mentioned from literal to spiritual Israel?

Actually chapters 40-48 are all highly symbolic. Take for instance the temple itself. There is not going to be a LITERAL temple built. The various things described in this temple complex represents persons that occupy a special relationship with Jehovah. The "cherubs" mentioned represents a particular people. The "palm trees", the wooden table before Jehovah, all represent persons who occupy a special position in relationship to the new priesthood that Jehovah is going to build, to lead us in worship. The geographical description in Chapter 48 simply means "Israel" will be given FIRST CHOICE in the selection of land during the 1,000 year reign of peace. All other peoples living on the earth will get what's left of the land to live upon.
And keep in mind, Jimmy, that the Israel described here is comprised of 200,000,000 + individuals, which as you know cannot occupy that small strip of land that we today call "Palestine."
Hope this helps,
