"Rejecting The Scepter Of My Son" . . . What Does It Mean? (Ezekiel 21:10)
The Watchtower Society says 2 Samuel 7:14 and Ezekiel 21:10 are related bible passages. They refer to the same thing. (Please see cross-references shown in NWT on Ezekiel 21:10.)
Bur, let's also add Luke 17:25 and Luke 19:27. Then too, let's add Genesis 49:10 and Psalms 110:2 to the list. These last two bible verses mention the word "scepter" in the New World Translation, the bible all Jehovah's Witnesses are most familiar with.
Ezekiel 21:10 warns us not to be:
". . . Rejecting The Scepter Of My Son" . . ." -- Ezekiel 21:10
This expression means NOT to reject Jehovah's chosen "king" or ruler. This one will prove to be the world ruler, the Davidic-Heir Ruler of 2 Samuel 7:11-14 and, who was promised to come. He is also spoken of as "Shiloh" of Genesis 49:10. Additionally, he is also the coming leader and "star" of the "locusts" of the "first woe,' who is actually referred to as the "king" over the "locusts," in Revelation 9:11.
The consequences for "rejecting" God's Chosen "Scepter," "Messiah" and "King" was vividly described in Luke 19:27 by Jesus himself. This"king" must be obeyed by all faithful members of New "Israel." (See Isaiah 44:5 & Matt. 21:43.) He is God's Last Prophet. No one will be sent after him to mankind, from Jehovah and Jesus. No one. (See Genesis 49:10; Psalms 18:43-45; Acts 3:22, 23.)
